Liverpool star avoided international break matches due to a lack of signatures

Lack of signatures ensured Mohamed Salah didn’t feature during international break

Mohamed Salah got to enjoy a rare football-free international break as Egypt weren’t in action over the two weeks.

The forward has been one of the busiest players in the world since 2018 as Egypt qualified for the World Cup and played in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Salah has been a permanent fixture in our team too and helped us win the Champions League last season.

However, the Egyptian could have been in action during the break had things gone according to plan.

The Liverpool Echo translated journalist Igor Burbas’ tweet which suggested that Egypt were to face Ukraine in a friendly.

Salah would have been obliged to play had the game gone ahead, but there weren’t enough signatures to make the match official:

“Egypt was supposed to be in place of Nigeria in the Dnipro. The UAF had an agreement with the Federation there. The contract provided for Salah’s arrival.

“There were not enough paper signatures. The Egyptians postponed it because of their participation in the AFCON. And then an early departure from the tournament, the resignation of the coach, president. End of story.”

Salah needed a bit of a break

The Egyptian has started this season in great form but needed a break from the constant football he has played over the last 24 months or so.

The forward is one of the best in the world and we need him to stay in great form as some tough games are coming up.

We face Napoli and Chelsea shortly after the international break is done, and we cannot take the pair lightly.

Napoli defeated us last season in Naples while Chelsea did hold us to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge too.

We beat the pair at home last season, but the two ties will be played away from Anfield.
