Liverpool continued their winning start to the season after defeating Newcastle 3-1 at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp brought in a few changes, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Divock Origi getting starts.
The Reds have a tough Champions League encounter in midweek and started this game on the wrong foot as Jetro Willems scored early on.
That seemed to wake us up, with Andy Robertson doing well to find Sadio Mane. The Senegal star lashed in the equaliser.
Mane then capitalised on a mistake by the Newcastle goalkeeper to give us the lead. Roberto Firmino had come on before half-time as Divock Origi picked up an injury, and the Brazilian was excellent in the second half.
Firmino set up Mohamed Salah for the third goal of the game and the Brazilian created a lot of chances for the side. Liverpool dominated the game after going behind and they were of good value for all three points against the Magpies.
The Spaniard might have done more to stop the goal scored by the away side but didn’t have much to do after that.
Trent might have done better to block Willems’ effort but he was great after the goal and even had a chance to get himself a goal.
No major problems with Matip at the back. The defender was excellent in keeping the Magpies out and should have won a penalty in the first half.
The Dutch defender also was barely troubled by the Newcastle attack and even had a few headers at the opposition goal.
Robertson played a huge role in our equaliser as he set up Mane, and this was possibly his best game of the season.
Wijnaldum had one great effort which he took on the volley but missed the target. The Dutch midfielder did his regular bit for the Reds.
Another solid display from Fabinho as he got into some meaty challenges and even created a few chances for the home side.
The Ox still needs more first-team minutes as the rust was showing, but he did look good in patches and even had a couple of efforts on goal.
The Egyptian got his goal late on but was passing the ball around for fun as he tried to get his mates through on goal.
Mane came up with the goods when we needed it and it was a shame he couldn’t get his hat-trick. The Senegal star’s opener was a typical curling shot while his second was due to his tenacity.
The Belgian was unfortunate to leave after picking up a knock early on in the game.
Firmino came on in the first half but he was in brilliant form as his tricks and flicks caused havoc in the final third. The Brazilian didn’t score but he was possibly the best player on the pitch.
The Englishman came on to replace the Ox and kept things going.
Got a few minutes at the end of the game.
