Ben Chilwell is another Leicester City star who has improved leaps and bounds under Brendan Rodgers.
The 22-year-old left-back is one of the best in his position but isn’t close to the performances of Andy Robertson.
The Leicester star was linked with Liverpool in 2016 (h/t Sky Sports
) but no deal was completed for the Englishman.Brendan Rodgers tried to sign the Englishman during his time at Liverpool, however, Chilwell has no regrets of staying at the Leicester (h/t Sky Sports):
“I was 17 at the time. My agent was the one dealing with it all, talking to Liverpool and Leicester about the situation.
“At the time, I was trying to break into the U21 team at Leicester so I was just focused on getting into that and progressing into the first team here.”
The youngster added that Leicester was the perfect club for him at the time and is now a regular in the England side:
“Definitely no regrets. When I look at how the last four or five years have gone, starting eight games now for the England team is something I’m very happy with.
“Leicester was the right place for me to be at the time and the older players have helped me a lot. The staff have kept me grounded. Definitely no regrets.”
Liverpool have done exceptionally well with Robertson, and the Scot only joined a couple of years ago.
Liverpool host Chilwell’s Leicester on Saturday and it will be a battle of four attacking full-backs.
Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are possibly the best in their position, however, the Foxes also have Ricardo Pereira on their side.
The right-back has been excellent for them this season and is one of the better attackers in his position.
All four should be set for a mega battle at the weekend and hopefully, our pair comes out on top.
