Swansea City leading the race to sign this talented Liverpool attacker

Swansea City in pole position to sign Rhian Brewster

The Telegraph claim that Swansea City are leading the race to sign talented Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster on loan this January.

Despite boasting of ample potential, injuries and a lack of playtime in the starting XI have severely restricted his progress.

With minutes on the pitch hard to come by in the senior squad, Jurgen Klopp believes a loan elsewhere will do the young striker the world of good (h/t Telegraph

Swansea City could have an edge over their competitors, owing to Brewster’s relationship with manager Steve Cooper.

Brewster was part of the England squad that Steve Cooper led to the U17 World Cup in 2017 and was the Golden Boot winner at the tournament.

Having managed the player before, he would have a good understanding of Brewster’s strengths.

Guaranteed playtime a concern?

Liverpool would be wise to send him out on loan – provided the club can guarantee sufficient playtime for Brewster.

This would rule out a loan move to a Premier League team and given the rise of Harry Wilson at Derby County last season, regular playtime under the right manager can work wonders.

With Sam Surridge and Borja Baston being out of form, Brewster has an excellent chance of moving up the pecking order at Swansea when compared to the other teams in the fray.
