Dejan Lovren could leave Liverpool in the summer window

Croatian defender Dejan Lovren could be on his way out of Liverpool in the summer transfer window. (h/t ESPN

Signed in the summer of 2014 from Southampton, Lovren is the second-longest serving player in the Red’s squad after captain Jordan Henderson.

Beset by injuries since the beginning of last season, Lovren has found himself behind Joel Matip and Joe Gomez to partner Virgil van Dijk in the defence.

Lovren has performed admirably whenever needed and has proven to be a vital option in reserves for Liverpool.

It proved to be an inspired decision as injuries to Matip and Gomez have led to Lovren finding game time easier to come by. He has started in 8 games for Liverpool this season and has performed admirably.

With Joel Matip still injured and Liverpool till fighting for major honours on multiple fronts, Klopp will not sell the defender in January. However, a summer transfer could be on the cards. (h/t ESPN)

Dejan Lovren is currently out with an injury and is not expected to feature this year.

Lovren wrote his name into Liverpool folklore with a last-minute winner in the famous comeback against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League second leg at Anfield in 2016.
