The Japanese playmaker, who was signed from RB Salzburg for £7.25million, is ineligible to play against Sheffield United as Liverpool seek to re-establish a 13-point lead at the top of the table.
Having officially joined the club on 1 January, Minamino took part is his first training session at Melwood.
Jurgen Klopp had a pep talk with the Japanese ace and was full of praise for his new signing.
‘We had a little talk, I told him that we really signed Takumi Minamino from Salzburg, the guy who played against us like crazy, who was self-confident like crazy.
Stating that the player needs time to adapt to the league, Klopp hopes that it will be sooner rather than later.
‘He will have all the time he needs. But how much time he needs, I have no idea.’
With Klopp having to contend with injuries amidst a fixture pileup, the addition of Minamino will come as a welcome boost to the Reds as we try to win our first league title in 30 years.
