The 18-year-old has been a regular in the Liverpool Under-23 side managed by Neil Critchley. Boyes also played a major part in Barry Lewtas’s UEFA Youth League Under-19 team.
The young centre-back was part of the Liverpool Under-19 team that won the FA Youth Cup in 2019. He signed his first professional contract with the club soon after.
Boyes made his debut for the Liverpool first-team in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals against Aston Villa. The Reds lost 5-0 that night but it must not be forgotten that that was the youngest side fielded in Liverpool’s history.
The defender has been at Merseyside since before his pre-academy days and its a testament of his hard work and skill that he has progressed so far.
The 18-year-old could make his Anfield bow when Liverpool take on Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup replay in February. Jurgen Klopp has stated that none of his first-team will be in contention, which should provide Boyes with a reasonable chance of playing.
Boyes, who grew up in Chester, was born in Wales and represents the country of his birth at the Under-19 level. The versatile defender is equally dependable at left-back.
