Hansi Flick confirms that Thiago Alcantara’s decision is already made

Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick recently conceded to SportBild (h/t Independent) that Thiago Alcantara has already made a decision about destination this summer.

The former Barcelona man is said to be looking for a fresh challenge after seven years in Germany. And Premier League champions Liverpool among the front-runners for his highly sought-after signature. (h/t Daily Mail)

The report suggests that we have already spoken to the midfielder’s entourage, and that the player himself is also keen on a switch to Merseyside in the summer.

Hansi Flick also used the opportunity to reiterate the fact that their Champions League final win against Paris Saint-Germain was going to be Thiago’s last ever one in a Bayern Munich shirt. (h/t Independent)

“I assume he will leave. We were completely focused on the Champions League, and his contract wasn’t an issue in the past few weeks. We haven’t had another conversation now, but I think his decision has been made”

The midfielder, who currently has less than a year remaining on his contract, would be a massive coup for us. Bayern Munich have seemingly set a £30m price tag on the 29-year-old’s head, and that could come as the biggest stumbling block to our pursuit at this point in time.

Although the player’s desire to join us in the current transfer window has also been clarified in the report, it has been suggested that Liverpool are yet to submit an official bid to Bayern Munich for the player.

This could come as a frustrating piece of information to fans. But it’s worth considering that this summer presents Bayern their last opportunity to make some money off the player’s sale.

As the weeks go by, Munich are likely to get more and more desperate to sell their man. This means that they could eventually end up lowering the asking price.

Although this relaxes the situation a little bit, another development that occurred earlier indicated that Manchester United had also entered the race for the Spanish wizard’s signature, which will only make things more complicated in the coming days. (h/t ESPN)
