Thiago Alcantara given a few days off after Nations League
According to German publication BILD (h/t Daily Mail), Bayern Munich have decided to give Liverpool target Thiago Alcantara a few extra days off following his UEFA Nations League assignment, amid speculations over his future.
The 29-year-old is in the final year of his current contract with Die Roten and as a result, has been heavily linked with a summer switch from Germany. Premier League champions Liverpool have been touted as the Spaniard’s next destination. (h/t Daily Mail)
Thiago recently claimed that he hadn’t told anyone that he will be leaving the German and European champions this summer. However, as per the report, his house has already been put up for sale, while he has said his goodbyes to his teammates. (h/t Daily Mail)
And now, Bayern have decided to give him a few additional days off in order to get his affairs in order. Furthermore, reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the next few days will be key in deciding where Thiago’s future lies. (h/t Daily Mail)
Liverpool have shown interest in Thiago, but as things stand, the club needs to sell before making a move for the Bayern Munich star. The Germans are holding out for a transfer fee of around £27m for the Spanish international. (h/t Daily Mail)
Much will depend on whether there is any progress made in talks with Barcelona over the possible sale of Georginio Wijnaldum. The Dutchman is in the final year of his deal with the Reds and is a target for the Catalans. Should a move go through, Liverpool should have room for a new midfielder as well as funds to make a move. (h/t Daily Mail)

However, another factor that does come into play is the fact that there is some interest from Barcelona themselves to re-sign former academy ace Thiago. So, the next week will be critical as to how the entire saga takes shape. (h/t Daily Mail)
Wijnaldum is a key player for us, but with his contract running out, we better cash in now than lose him for nothing a year later. At the same time, passing up a chance to sign a world-class player like Thiago would be foolhardy. The 29-year-old is easily one of the best in his positions and would elevate our squad to the next level.
