Alisson has returned to light training after missing out on the Merseyside derby

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Brazilian keeper Alisson is back in training.

The Brazilian picked up a shoulder injury in training earlier this month. Alisson was expected to be out for up to six weeks. The 28-year-old missed the 7-2 hammering at the hands of Aston Villa and the Merseyside derby too.

His replacement, Adrian, didn’t cover himself with too much glory in both games. However, the Villa performance was a horrendous one from all our defenders.

Klopp was speaking ahead of our Champions League clash against Ajax and shared what Alisson has been up to (h/t Sky Sports):

“Ali looks very good. We have to see; catching balls and stuff like this is all possible, but we cannot rush it and will not rush it.”

The German added that he was meeting Alisson every day and that there were slight improvements too.

Klopp shared more good news by confirming that Naby Keita was back and could play against Ajax. Thiago, who also was injured for the draw at Goodison, is also close to fitness. However, the gaffer couldn’t confirm if the Spaniard would play in midweek.

Liverpool fans hope for the best

While Adrian has had his ups and downs since coming to Liverpool, it is a giant task to replace Alisson in goal. The Brazilian has a huge frame and is possibly the best keeper in the Premier League. Alisson has great distribution too and is composed on the ball.

The Brazilian returning to action earlier than expected would be great news for our title hopes. Virgil van Dijk is expected to miss a huge chunk of the season after injuring his knee against Everton.

Losing the Dutchman and not having Alisson is a double blow for us. However, many fans were pleased to learn that Alisson is back in training:
