Brighton vs Liverpool: Preview, Head-to-Head, Predicted line-up and more

Premier League Match Preview: Brighton and Hove Albion vs Liverpool

Liverpool travel to the Amex to take on Brighton and Hove Albion in gameweek 10 of the Premier League on Saturday.

The Reds have lost just once in the league season and sit second in the league table, trailing Tottenham on goal difference. Brighton haven’t won at home this season in the league, drawing 2 and losing 2. Liverpool, meanwhile, have won all their five home matches but are winless in their last 3 away games.

Liverpool come on the back of a hugely disappointing UEFA Champions League defeat at Anfield on Wednesday, after Klopp’s heavily rotated side lost 2-0 to Atalanta. However, the Reds are unbeaten in their last 5 Premier League matches. The defending champions thumped fellow title contenders Leicester City 3-0 last weekend.

Both of Brighton’s wins in the league this season have come away from home. The Seagulls are on an 8-match winless run in the league, with their last victory at the Amex coming in June 2020 against Arsenal. Their problems are increased by the suspension of Tariq Lamptey, who will miss the match against the Reds.

Head-to-Head record: Brighton and Hove Albion vs Liverpool

Brighton have never won at home in the top-flight against Liverpool (D3, L4). Their last home league win against Liverpool came in 1961 in the second division. Liverpool’s last defeat to Brighton in all competitions came 36 years ago in the FA Cup in January 1984.

Liverpool have played Brighton and Hove Albion 31 times in their history; winning 19 and losing just 4 times. In fact, the Reds have won all of their last nine matches against Brighton in all competitions.

The last time these two teams met in the Premier League, Liverpool came out 3-1 victors, as Mohamed Salah scored twice to hand the Reds all 3 points at the Amex in June 2020.

Liverpool predicted line-up vs Brighton:

Liverpool will be without three of their four first-choice defenders as Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Trent Alexander-Arnold face a spell out on the sidelines. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also likely to miss the game, while Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson and Xherdan Shaqiri will be major doubts for the encounter.

Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker

Defenders: James Milner; Joel Matip, Nat Phillips, Andrew Robertson

Midfielders: Curtis Jones, Georginio Wijnaldum, Roberto Firmino

Attackers: Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane

Brighton and Hove Albion vs Liverpool: Premier League match prediction

Considering Liverpool’s sublime record in the recent past against Brighton and the latter’s terrible start to the season, nothing other than a Liverpool win seems likely.
