A report by Mirror mentions the latest team news and injury update from the Real Madrid camp ahead of the second leg UEFA Champions League tie against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday.
The injury crisis at both Madrid and Liverpool seems to have reached a saturation point. But in a potential boost for the Reds, Los Galacticos
will be without a number of their stars in the return leg at Anfield. The latest injury news has Lucas Vazquez sidelined for possibly the remainder of the season. A club statement after his injury against Barcelona in El Clasico last weekend read:
“Following tests carried out today on Lucas Vázquez by the Real Madrid Medical Services; he has been diagnosed with a sprain to the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.”
The Spaniard was deputizing at right-back for Madrid and played in that position for them in the first leg against Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Daniel Carvajal, their first-choice right-back, is nearing a comeback from his hamstring injury but will still miss the 2nd leg.
The report adds that Adrian Odriozola is expected to start in that position. In some good news for our opponents, they have Franco Valverde travelling with their squad despite encountering a knock against Barcelona in their 2-1 win.
His chances to start are thought to go down until the last minute but there are no doubts about Eden Hazard’s situation. The Belgian winger will miss the game due to his ankle injury. (h/t Mirror)
This news comes after both Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane have also been sidelined for the second leg. The Reds would have hope that they can use this to their advantage and overturn the 3-1 first-leg deficit.
