Transfer News: Torino double asking price for Liverpool target Gleison Bremer

A report by Italian outlet La Stampa via HITC (h/t Irish Mirror) claims that Torino are now seeking double the transfer fee for Gleison Bremer than they were for the Liverpool transfer target back in January.

The Brazilian centre-back has been linked with a move to Liverpool recently. The Reds are still amidst a freak injury crisis that has seen their senior centre-backs sidelined until the end of the season.

Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip are all out. This saw Liverpool sign Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies in the winter transfer window, but the void in defence is yet to be filled.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are not in the title race, eliminated from all cup competitions, and are struggling to make the top-4 this season.

Transfer blow?

A repeat of this season can really not be afforded and depth, especially in defence, is something that the club should take care of.

But if the latest report is to be believed, we would have to fork out £26million for Gleison Bremer in order to sign him. This is a steep increase from the £13million price tag that he had back in January.

The 24-year-old defender is all set to move next season as his team struggles in Serie A. But apart from the now increased fee, Liverpool also have some competition to fend off if they are to get this deal across the line.

City rivals Everton are also linked with a move for the former Atletico Mineiro centre-back. (h/t Irish Mirror)

More Liverpool News:

The bloated transfer fee is still not the most ridiculous figure in the transfer market. And if that means that Liverpool get a young and able centre-back for 5-6 years, then it could even prove to be a bargain in the future.
