Transfer News: Leeds United’s Raphinha addresses transfer rumours linking him with Liverpool move

Speaking to UOL Esporte (h/t The Mirror), Leeds United winger Raphinha stated that he is flattered by transfer interest from big clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United.

The Brazilian forward has had a great year at Elland Road which saw Leeds United impress in the Premier League. He was signed by Marcelo Bielsa last summer from Stade Rennais and has since mesmerized Leeds fans.

With 8 goals and 11 assists over the course of the season, Raphinha has caught the eyeballs of some of the biggest clubs in Europe. Two of them are Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United. (h/t The Mirror)

The 24-year-old said that he is overwhelmed seeing big clubs lining up for him as he grew up watching players from these teams succeed in the English top-flight.

“It is difficult to define how I feel when I hear speculation about giant teams like Liverpool and Manchester United interested in signing me. Man, I grew up watching these teams on television. I saw Rooney, Van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo, but I also saw Gerrard, as well as others like Henry, Deco, Lampard.”

A great possible signing

Nevertheless, he stated at the end of his interview that he is happy at Leeds and still has a contract here. His current deal runs until the summer of 2025.

“And today I’m making people happy with my football. I am not only talking about the other clubs, but also Leeds, who was the one who bet on me. They are all very happy, including the fans who seem to have a great affection for me. I have a contract for another four years and I don’t even think about leaving here for exactly this reason: I am happy and making others happy.”

There is no doubt that he would be a smashing signing for the Reds. Jurgen Klopp added Diogo Jota from Wolverhampton Wanderers last summer, and Raphinha could be a similar signing.
