Transfer News: Liverpool interested in Leicester City man Youri Tielemans as Gini Wijnaldum replacement

A report by Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsbald (h/t Daily Mail) states that Liverpool are eyeing Leicester City star Youri Tielemans as a potential replacement for the outgoing Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Dutch midfielder is out of the contract in the summer and likely to join Barcelona as a free agent. Amidst this, the club has the thought of replacing the 3o-year-old, with Youri Tielemans also on the list

Wijnaldum joined the club from Newcastle United and has played a massive part in the club’s success. Even this season, he was one of the most dependable players and was available for selection throughout the year.

The hole left by a midfielder who has been so regular in the starting XI is one that will be hard to replace. But it is something that should be done in order to carry the success into the new season.

Tielemans to Anfield?

And the report mentions that if the Reds are to sign him, they will face competition from the biggest La Liga clubs as well as Manchester United. His emotional victory lap after the FA Cup win is also seen as a sign that he could be leaving.

The Belgian maestro was the star in the FA Cup final for the Foxes against the Blues. And he has also gone on to win the Leicester player of the year, awarded by his teammates and fans.
