Transfer News: Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic confident of Porto switch

According to Football Insider (h/t Daily Star), forgotten Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic is confident of securing a permanent transfer to FC Porto in the summer.

Grujic has been with Liverpool since January 2016, having arrived from Serbian outfit Red Star Belgrade. He was immediately loaned back to the club for the rest of the 2015/16 season. Upon his return, the midfielder failed to have the desired impact, resulting in loan spell to Cardiff City in January 2018.

Following that, Grujic spent the 2018/19 and the 2019/20 seasons on loan at Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin before securing another temporary switch to FC Porto in the last summer. The 25-year-old enjoyed a solid spell with the Portuguese giants, featuring 41 times in all competitions, scoring three goals.

With his loan spell expiring, Grujic is set to return to Liverpool. However, he harbours hopes of a permanent transfer to Porto, having had to switch clubs relentlessly in the past few years. And the report adds that the Serbian international is confident that a transfer to the Dragoes will go through this summer.

Liverpool are holding out for a fee of £15m fee for Grujic, with the Independent (h/t Daily Star) insisting that Porto are the favourites to sign the 25-year-old this summer, having been in talks with the Reds for quite some time.

Grujic, despite having been a Liverpool player for over five years now, has managed just 16 appearances for the club. While he is a talented player, all parties would be benefited if he was let go of on a permanent basis, considering that he is not in the plans of the manager.

It now remains to be seen if a permanent move to Porto does materialise or more frustration awaits Grujic.
