As per a report by Daily Mail, Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has made a sizeable contribution towards the construction of a hospital in his home country of Senegal.
The donation is believed to be around £450,000. He returned from two rounds of international fixtures earlier this month to meet up with Senegal president, Macky Sall.
After just a couple of weeks of the meeting at the President Palace, the hospital is now inaugurated with a plaque that commemorates Manee’s contribution towards building the structure.
The hospital will be the first such building in its area and will serve 34 areas around the area of Bambali. In a statement given to Spanish outlet AS (h/t The Daily Mail), Mane stated:
“This hospital is obtained thanks to you, and it is for you, the population of Sédhiou”
The report by AS (h/t The Daily Mail) further added that Mane and his partners are interested in further such projects. A post office and a petrol station are on the agenda too.
This is also not the first time that Mane has overseen a project like this. Previously, he helped construct a secondary school as well as a supermarket in the area, which is named
after him.It is always a great sight to see footballers not forgetting their roots and going back to help their community lead better lives. Despite his long journey in Europe, Mane is still very close to his hometown.
This gesture was obviously not going to go unnoticed by football fans, especially the Liverpool faithful. Many of them took to Twitter to congratulate and praise Mane on this memorable occasion.
