Forgotten Liverpool star admits to being in the dark over future

Liverpool star Marko Grujic has no idea about future at club

Speaking to Serbian outlet Sportske (h/t Mirror), Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic has admitted that his future is up in the air ahead of the 2021/22 pre-season.

Grujic has been with Liverpool since January 2016, having arrived from Serbian outfit Red Star Belgrade. He was immediately loaned back to the club for the rest of the 2015/16 season. Upon his return, the midfielder failed to have the desired impact, resulting in a loan spell to Cardiff City in January 2018.

Following that, Grujic spent the 2018/19 and the 2019/20 seasons on loan at Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin before securing another temporary switch to FC Porto in the last summer. The 25-year-old enjoyed a solid spell with the Portuguese giants, featuring 41 times in all competitions, scoring three goals.

Grujic has made just 16 appearances for Liverpool

With his loan spell now expired, Grujic is back at Liverpool and is set to take part in the pre-season ahead of the 2021/22 season. However, the midfielder has admitted that he has little clue as to what lies ahead of him with regard to his future at the club.

“”I will soon join Liverpool ’s preparations, to do that basic part, so we’ll see the next step. We’ll see which club I’m going to play for, I don’t know at the moment, but as for the blue colours, I think I’ve done well in the last three seasons. Of course, it can always be better!”

Grujic then went on to hint that he would be open to a return to FC Porto where he enjoyed a solid last season. The Serbian midfielder claimed his only regret was not being able to play in front of the fans at Estadio do Dragao – something that he hopes to do in the future.

Judging by his words, it looks like Grujic is yearning for a return to Porto. Given he has no future at Liverpool, the Reds would be better off cashing in on him as well. It remains to be seen where the midfielder ends up.
