Liverpool urged to make two signings if Divock Origi leaves

According to Football Insider (h/t Express), Paul Robinson has urged Liverpool to make two signings if they sell Divock Origi. The Belgian has been tipped to leave the club over this transfer window.

Divock Origi could finally be set to call time on his career at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp is open to the idea of letting the striker leave. He has never been the first choice for the side during this time and has pretty much always been a backup to the trio of Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino. The addition of Diogo Jota did little to aid his cause.

Divock Origi on his way out?

In 2019 though, Origi endeared himself to the Reds faithful with his two-goal salvo against Barcelona in the Champions League and then adding another one in the final. However, he failed to kick on from that and was pretty much back to bench duties last term. Napoli and Wolves have been linked with the player this summer.

Origi has been linked with an exit

Former England keeper, Paul Robinson felt that Liverpool will need to get replacements for Origi if he is sold. Although, it must be noted that he did not mention any names (h/t Express).

“£20million for a player of his quality in this day and age really isn’t much. He has shown as an impact player off the bench for Liverpool just how dangerous he can be. Over the years he’s scored some really important goals for them.

“Liverpool are trying to sell players on the peripheral which will allow Klopp to go into the market to strengthen in one or two positions with more money than he would have previously had. They will obviously try and get as much money as they can for the players that they don’t want and £20million for Origi would be great business. We could then see two new signings.”

The Belgian striker has served Liverpool well whenever called upon. However, with Harvey Elliott remaining at the club, it is clear that Origi might not get those few games that he did previously. While a direct replacement might not be needed, Liverpool would be wise to reinvest the money from a sale back into the squad.
