Speaking to German publication BILD (h/t Liverpool ECHO), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has given his thoughts about Borussia Dortmund goalscorer Erling Haaland.
The 21-year-old Haaland has developed into one of the most lethal strikers in Europe since making the switch to Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January last year. In 63 games so far for the Black and Yellows, the Norwegian international has banged in 62 goals.
Haaland’s goalscoring exploits have put him on the radars of several top clubs all across Europe, including
Liverpool. And, Klopp was quizzed about his opinion on the striker and any interest that the Reds might have in signing him, to which he said:“There is of course a danger with such an extraordinary talent. The boy is a force of nature. When he celebrated a goal, he hit the ball on the ground, so I wasn’t sure if there was a dent in the ground.
“Sooner or later he will be in discussion with large clubs. I don’t know if that will be the case next year, but then Dortmund will have to counter it.”
Klopp was further pushed to answer if Liverpool were interested in signing him, to which the German coyly replied that every top club would be looking to sign Haaland from Dortmund.
“I don’t have his number! He’s just a very interesting player. I really like the energy he brings to the pitch. But he would generally be watched by most of the teams.”
Adding a prolific goalscorer like Haaland would be a dream signing for Liverpool fans. The Reds are due an upgrade over Roberto Firmino in the No. 9 slot. However, signing the 21-year-old will be anything but straightforward given the sheer number of clubs interested
