Transfer News: Liverpool rebuffed loan interest from PL club for 20-year-old midfield starlet

Leeds United enquired about Curtis Jones this summer for a potential short-term loan.

According to Goal (h/t Liverpool Echo), Leeds United made an approach for Curtis Jones this summer. They approached the Reds to sign the youngster on a short-term loan which was rejected by the club.

Curtis Jones made 34 appearances for the Reds and scored 4 goals in all competition last season. The 20-year has grown through the ranks and become a part of the first team under Jurgen Klopp. Despite Liverpool rejecting

any proposal for the 20-year old, he is yet to feature in the first team this season.

However, there will be plenty of opportunities for the player in cup games followed by a long schedule of games to come.

Curtis Jones featured heavily in the first team last season.

More opportunities might come towards the young midfielder as Gini Wijnaldum parted ways with the club moving to PSG this summer and with James Milner injured, there will be opportunities for the player which he will seize quite well.

The player is also seen as long term flag bearer for the club as he was part of the youth set-up and could potentially replace Jordan Henderson in near future. Curtis Jones has a long term contract with the Reds up until 2025. The player is a boyhood fan of the club and is likely to take up more and more responsibilities in the midfield role at Anfield as time passes.

The start of the season has not been perfect for the youngster as he sustained an injury in a pre-season friendly against Osasuna, which also made him unavailable for the Premier League opener against Norwich City.

Curtis Jones is expected to play a big role in Liverpool midfield.

The Reds have failed to sign any midfielder this summer and might pave way for Curtis Jones to establish himself as a key player in the Liverpool squad. The player will be hoping that he does get a good run in the first team in order to prove his worth. After all, the Englishman seems to have a bright future ahead of him.
