Premier League giants Liverpool are among a number of top clubs from Europe are keen to sign 24-year-old Torino defender Gleison Bremer.
However, according to reports from Italian outlet Fanta Calcio (h/t Liverpool Echo), Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has been keeping an eye on Bremer since 2018 and is keen on bringing the Brazilian defender to Anfield.
But the road to sign Bremer is not easy as the Reds face some serious competition from other European giants. This includes former Serie A champions Juventus, who have been scouting
Bremer frequently. The addition of Bremer would solidify the Liverpool backline further. The 24-year-old can pair well with Virgil Van Dijk and can be used in rotation to the likes of Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez.
The Brazilian joined Torino in 2018 and is currently on a five-year deal at the club. He has since made 83 appearances, making 11 goals and assisting four goals.
Bremer has also displayed strength from set pieces, delivering headers from crosses and long balls. He will add another threat to the reds from the dead ball.
Even though Bremer started his professional career at Desportivo Brazil in the 2014/15 season. The defender didn’t get his first breakthrough before the 2017/18 season, playing for the Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro.
A defender is not a priority for Liverpool at this moment in time. They already have four top defenders to choose from not to mention Nathaniel Phillips. Unless Bremer is an upgrade on anyone they already have, it makes little sense to pursue him.
