According to Calciomercato (h/t Mirror), Liverpool have shown interest in Juventus winger, Federico Chiesa. The Reds also planted scouts, who watched him in action.
The Italian winger was one of the stand out performers for the Azzurri contingent who won the Euro 2020 tournament in the summer. He repaid Roberto Mancini’s trust in him and put up one stellar performance after another.
Even in the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Italian player signed for the Turin side last season and performed amicably. He scored 15 goals and provided 11 assists
last season across all competition for the Old Lady last season.Injuries have largely limited his influence this season. He has however managed to put up some excellent performances when available. One of them came against European Champions Chelsea, a game Juventus won 1-0.
Recently Liverpool has started closely following his games with Juventus. It is believed that the Reds planted scouts at Chiesa’s game for Juventus against Fiorentina this last Saturday. With Dusan Vlahovic also on the field, it would have been a field day for the club’s scouts.
Chiesa at 24 is entering his prime a d is among the best wide men in all of Europe. His ability to wreak havoc down the flank and also finish off attacks make him a worthy addition to the Liverpool squad.
Liverpool will need to replace Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah somewhere down the line. More so, the lack of depth in the department should the two African superstars get injured or need a breather is worrying.
The Merseyside team could use his help as they target for the highest prize in English football. The addition of the Italian striker can provide solid options for Jurgen Klopp to shuffle the starting XI.
