English sensation prefers to stay at current club despite Liverpool interest

Transfer News: Bukayo Saka is happy at Arsenal amidst interest from Liverpool

Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents Five Youtube Channel , as quoted by Liverpool Echo, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that English youngster Bukayo Saka is happy at Arsenal and does not want to make the switch to Liverpool.

The Arsenal wide midfielder has been on scintillating form this season, scoring 9 goals and assisting a further 5 in 30 games across all competitions this season. The Gunners starlet is behind only Florian Wirtz of Bayer Leverkusen for goal contributions by a U21 player this season across the top five leagues in Europe.

The 20-year-old English youngster plays predominantly as a right midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 for Arsenal although he can switch flanks to the left and also deputise at left-back if required. He has formed a lethal partnership with Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith-Rowe and the three youngsters have been the attacking pillars in Mikel Arteta’s Gunners revolution.

While the talented player has a contract with Arsenal until 2024. With him yet to agree on a new deal, it has emerged that Liverpool could be interested in bringing the forward to Anfield. However, Saka is apparently very content at Arsenal and does not consider moving away from the Emirates stadium.

There appears to be no problem with regards to a new deal for Saka, with the player not initiating contract talks right now so that he could focus on football this season. Arsenal are expected to offer their star kid a brand new improved deal come the summer.

Does Klopp need him?

While Liverpool plays a different system to that of Arsenal, Saka could easily play as either the left or right winger in Jurgen Klopp’s system.

The Reds have been on the lookout for youngsters to replace their ageing forward line in the future. Diogo Jota has already established himself as a regular starter for the Merseysiders, and they have also completed the signing of Luis Diaz from Porto this summer.

He could also replace Mohamed Salah in the future. Saka can perfectly play this role, playing on the right and cutting on to his stronger left foot.

Time to replace Salah?

While Saka will be a great signing for Liverpool, for the present and the future, it looks highly unlikely that the Gunners will let go of their prized wonderkid at any cost. If Saka indeed signs a new deal in the summer, the Reds will have to stop pursuing the English international and start exploring other options.
