Villarreal ace believes ‘humble’ Liverpool will give them more respect than Bayern

Villarreal star Pau Torres believes ‘humble’ Liverpool will give them more respect than Bayern Munich

According to DailyMail, Villarreal defender Pau Torres has demanded respect from Liverpool ahead of the Champions League semi-final tie.

Villarreal has experienced an impressive run in the Champions League this term. They have become the underdog who defeated some giants like Juventus and Bayern Munich on the path to the semi-final. Now they have another significant barrier in the form of Liverpool.

Villarreal are set to travel to Anfield to take on the Reds in the Champions League semi-final first leg on 28th April. Even though the challenge seems far more extensive than their last encounters, they are not overwhelmed.

Villarreal defender Pau Torres suggested Bavarian giants Bayern underestimate their power. However, he believes Liverpool would not repeat the same mistake as the English team is more ‘humble’.

“Liverpool will be a bit more humble than Bayern Munich were.”

Villareal plays in a completely different league than Liverpool, but most of the Yellow Submarine players know their opponents thoroughly as they have played football in the Premier League before.

Ten players from the Villlareal’s starting XI are Premier League rejects. Players like Juan Foyth, Pervis Estupin, Dani Parejo, Francis Coquelin, Giovani Lo Celso etc., were members of some top Premier League teams. After failing to earn the trust of the English teams, they ended up in Spain.

They are going to go to war against Liverpool under the leadership of Unai Emery, who understands the feeling of not being given enough time.

Pau Torres is one of the odd men out as he hasn’t been featured in the Premier League until now. However, he had plenty of chances for such an accolade as Tottenham tried to sign him last summer, and Liverpool were interested in luring him. But he rejected

all the offers to play for his hometown club.

Can Liverpool win against Villarreal?

Liverpool have been one of the best clubs in the entire world this term. Quality-wise they are further ahead of their Spaniard competitors. Refs also have the advantage of individual quality as some of the biggest stars would be featuring in that game from the Merseyside team’s side.

Even though in the long run, quality wins the battle, the result of only one game doesn’t depend on how much ammunition you have in attack. We have seen small teams like Ajax Amsterdam, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Galatasaray becoming giant slayers. Hence, there is a possibility that Villareal can do the same.

Even though we would be heavy favourites entering the game, our team shouldn’t let their attitude be ruled by overconfidence. Reds should approach this one as any other fixture, putting the serving respect to the opponent’s names. In that way, we would have better chances of managing the game’s intensity.
