According to Liverpool’s official website, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has bagged the PFA Premier League Fans’ Player of the Year award after a sensational individual season with the Reds.
Even though the 29-year-old couldn’t end the season on a high note due to the Champions League and Premier League failures, his individual efforts might have made a big difference in Liverpool’s attempt to secure the quadruple.
The Egyptian striker has scored a total of 23 goals and provided 14 assists in 35 appearances in the Premier League this season. His breathtaking spell has helped him win the Premier League golden boot and Premier League’s top assist provider awards.
Now Salah is set to add another coveted individual trophy to his name as Liverpool’s official website has confirmed that the Egyptian striker has won the PFA Premier League Fans’ Player of the Year award for the 2021/22 season. It would be the 29-year-old forward’s 2rd such title, having previously come out on top in 2018.
The award is an individual accolade voted by the fans of the league from the shortlisted candidate chosen by the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA). Three of the last four such awards have now been won by Liverpool stars.
Salah has been one of the top strikers in the world in recent campaigns. The way he started the season indicated that the Liverpool fans are going to see a world-class spell from their star performer.
31 goals in 51 matches across all competitions aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but the Egyptian has done it while playing one of the toughest leagues in the world, which reflects the brilliance of the Liverpool forward.
Salah has helped Liverpool secure two titles- the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup in the recently concluded campaign. However, failing to secure the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League titles might hurt his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or.
Salah’s form has been vital for Liverpool’s success and the fans would wish he continues to perform in the coming terms. Being 29-year-old, he has reached the peak years of his career and it would be crucial for him to keep going and maintain the level of consistency.
