Transfer News: Liverpool make offer to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele as a free agent

According to transfer news provided by Spanish outlet Sport (Print Edition) via Paisley Gates [h/t Liverpool Echo], Liverpool have made an offer to sign Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele on a free transfer this summer.

The French winger is set to become a free agent in a few weeks if he doesn’t renew his current contract. And that has put several top clubs on alert, including the Reds and fellow Premier League giants Chelsea.

Dembele played for Borussia Dortmund before his much-hyped transfer to Camp Nou. The Black and Yellow are, of course, the club Jurgen Klopp managed before he took up the job on Merseyside back in 2015.

Now 25, Dembele looks like he is starting to fulfil the massive potential he showed during his days in France and Germany. With 13 assists this season in La Liga, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is starting to become an important creator up front for Xavi.

What next for Dembele and LFC?

Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have been linked with an exit from the club in recent weeks. The Senegalese superstar could join Bayern Munich this summer while the Egyptian winger could leave as a free agent next year.

Amidst this, Dembele would be a brilliant option to have in attack as a replacement for either of the two. Those that have watched the ex-Rennes man play would know all about his dribbling and passing skills.

Adept at playing with both his feet, Dembele can play on either flank- a versatility that Mane himself showed during his time at Anfield. Signing a player of his ability on a free transfer would be a steal.
