Transfer News: Liverpool face new headache in the race to sign Arsenal star

LFC Transfer News: Manchester City join Liverpool in the race to sign Arsenal star Bukayo Saka

As if Arsenal trying to tie down Bukayo Saka to a new contract wasn’t a big enough challenge for Liverpool, they have now been joined by Manchester City in the race to sign the youngster.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that City have now entered the fray to secure Saka’s services at a time when Arsenal are looking to extend his stay at the Emirates beyond 2024.

The 20-year-old youngster has already become a household name under Mikel Arteta. A regular for Gareth Southgate’s England side, Saka is also a vital part of the Gunners’ starting XI.

He is versatile enough to play down both flanks and his pace coupled with the intent to attack makes him a nightmare for defenders to deal with. With 12 goals and 7 assists in 43 games across all competitions for Arsenal this season, Saka has continued to impress.

And now, two of England’s top clubs could be set to battle for his services. Saka’s current deal expires in the summer of 2023 but the North Londoners can extend it by one more year.

They are also actively trying to tie him down to a new deal but it remains to be seen if he can resist being enticed by two giants in Manchester City and Liverpool.

Not only do these two teams offer UEFA Champions League football next season, but under Jurgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola, Saka can rest assured that his potential new team will be serious contenders for football’s biggest prizes.

The London-born youngster is Arsenal through and through but allegiances can change pretty quickly in modern football. Hopefully, the Reds can edge out Man City in the race to sign Saka because he really is one of England’s brightest young stars right now.

The youngster would also be aware of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane’s situation at Anfield right now, and the potential opening that can create in one of the most fearsome football teams established in English football.
