Klopp reveals what he ‘really loves’ about the latest award won by Liverpool megastar

Jurgen Klopp tells what he loves about Mohamed Salah winning PFA Players’ Player of the Year award

Mohamed Salah beat Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane, along with Kevin de Bruyne, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Harry Kane to win his second-ever PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.

And the award was deserved. Confirmed as the winner on Thursday night, Salah had an incredible individual season where he shared the Premier League Golden Boot award with Son Heung-min and won the Playmaker Award.

He slowed down to a big extent after AFCON but was still an important attacker for the Reds in their failed bid for the quadruple. In comments made public after Salah’s win, Jurgen Klopp congratulated the forward and explained why this award was very special, as per the PFA via Liverpool Echo

.

“What I really love about this prize is that it’s voted for by the players. That’s the one prize that you should be interested in…”

Klopp highlighted the fact that it is a deserved win for Mo. Which it is, considering how important he was to our charge for the PL title. If it wasn’t for Aston Villa shockingly giving up a two-goal lead against Manchester City on the last day of the season, his goal against Wolves could have even won the PL title for us.

“…in Mo’s case, it’s the numbers, scoring goals. But scoring the most goals and having the most assists, with all the ups and down from a season and all the things I know about football, that’s a deserved win.”

Klopp congratulates Salah on PFA PPOTY win

This is his second award win after his success in 2018. Time has flown by since Salah joined us from AS Roma and it is hard to believe it has been five long years since then.

The Egyptian’s consistency in that period of time has been second to none. He has quickly become the fact of this Liverpool’s team attack- one that is feared across Europe.

The level of optimism surrounding Salah’s time at Liverpool right now isn’t quite the same as four years back, when he lifted his maiden PFA PPOTY award. Back then, the Reds were yet to win a trophy under Jurgen Klopp.

Now, Salah has won every major trophy he could have under the German manager and will enter into the last 12 months of his contract soon. If it comes to him leaving next year, fans would hope for a huge final act from the former Chelsea star before the curtains are drawn on his time at LFC.
