According to Liverpool Echo, Liverpool ‘will allow’ Nat Phillips and Neco Williams to leave this summer if the price is right, amidst interest from Bournemouth and Fulham respectively.
Phillips was out on loan at the Vitality Stadium for the second half of the season and helped his team win promotion. The same was the case with Neco, who did a good job with the Cottagers in their bid to return to the Premier League.
It is natural for them to want to keep their squad intact- at least the quality players- and then build on that. Seeing Phillips and Williams return to LFC would then give these clubs a scouting headache which they can do without right now.
The Reds apparently want £15m each for the Englishman and the Wales international. If completed, that would take the total sum to around £30m, which would be a neat influx given the players involved.
Williams doesn’t really have a future in our starting XI given Trent Alexander-Arnold’s rise. Connor Roberts is doing a solid job and will continue to be a regular starter for Burnley.
If Neco struggles for playing time, which he will, given TAA’s performances, then Robert Page would naturally be inclined to keep selecting the Burnley man over Neco. As for Nathaniel Phillips, the situation is a bit similar.
He cannot get minutes here under Jurgen Klopp simply due to the fact that the Reds have a stacked defensive line. It is best that the two players leave Anfield to reignite their careers elsewhere.
And in turn, the Reds can get in some cash that can then be used to strengthen the team in other positions.
