Transfer News: Liverpool one of the clubs showing interest in Slovenian starlet

Transfer News: Liverpool hold interest in RB Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko

Liverpool are one of the clubs that are showing interest in signing RB Salzburg striker, Benjamin Sesko, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t Liverpool Echo).

The Reds could face competition from Real Madrid, while Tottenham Hotspur are also seriously linked with the teenage striker. Sesko, at 19, is just getting started.

RB Salzburg lost Karim Adeyemi

to Borussia Dortmund this summer and the Slovenian international can expect added minutes next season. But then again, he could move to a ‘bigger club’ as well.

Madrid’s links with him make sense considering Karim Benzema isn’t getting younger while the likes of Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz have disappointed over the last few years.

Sesko to LFC?

Spurs, meanwhile, have Harry Kane and now, Richarlison. Similarly, the Reds have a few options up front as well. It remains to be seen if Antonio Conte plays a two-man striker partnership up front next season.

But the Reds have historically preferred a system with just one striker in their frontline under Jurgen Klopp. That will already create competition between the likes of Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Roberto Firmino.

But if the young striker is prepared to wait for his chance to become a first-team regular, he could be a smart signing for us. Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi, and Sadio Mane have all left the club this summer.

While Mane has arguably been replaced by Darwin Nunez, the impact Origi and Minamino had in cup games and off the bench would be hard to replace. Sesko could play that role.

But with competition in plenty for his signature, it remains to be seen if the Reds ever act on their apparent interest in the 1.94m tall teenager who already has 13 caps for his country.
