Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott claims he is ready for regular first-team action 

While speaking with Liverpool’s media team as quoted by the club’s official site, Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott claims he is prepared to solidify himself as a reliable option for Jurgen Klopp for the upcoming Premier League season.

Along with recent additions Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho, Elliott started the 1-0 loss to Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday night. The teenager has also occasionally contributed as a member of a midfield trio throughout the preseason.

Elliott hopes that his performances will persuade manager Jurgen Klopp that he deserves to play regularly in the Premier League when the new season starts in a month.

“I think I just need to go out there and show who I am again basically. Last season came with a lot of ups and downs and a lot of challenges for myself, but if anything has helped me towards this season, it’s been there for me to go and show to myself and show to the fans and the world that I can get into the team and that is my main focus.”

Harvey Elliott claims that his long-term goal is to use the preseason as a stepping stone into the Liverpool first XI. Given his potential, that very well might happen.

“So it’s a lot of learning this season and more and more as the season goes on we’re going to be learning different types of positions and ways, so I am looking forward to this season. Hopefully, I can go out and prove again that I can be starting and should be starting in this team.”

Before sustaining a long-term ankle injury that kept him out from September to February of last season, the former Fulham teen started three of Liverpool’s opening four Premier League games. He now claims he is ready to stake out a position in the team once again.

Under Jurgen Klopp, the young player made four appearances the previous year. He displayed strong results in the league’s early going and was rising up the ranks. If not for the injury he sustained in September against Leeds United, the 18-year-old player’s season last year might have been a breakout one.

The German manager has groomed and prepared the youngster for important tasks. He will be eager to put his problems from last season behind him now that he is back in action. Elliott might have a breakthrough season in Red and has the talent to back it up.
