Jurgen Klopp delighted with Liverpool star Diogo Jota’s new deal

Speaking to the club’s official website, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expressed his happiness at Diogo Jota penning a new deal that will keep him at the club till the summer of 2027.

Jota has been a revelation of sorts in Liverpool’s front three, offering something different to Roberto Firmino’s style of play . A £41m pound deal saw him switch from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Anfield in the 2020 summer window.

The 25 year old Portuguese has had a successful time on Merseyside, contributing 43 G/A from 85 appearances

, averaging 0.5 goal contributions per game.

“What Diogo has brought to this team and this club since he arrived is there for all to see, so it is really good news that he has signed a new contract. Brilliant, brilliant news, I would say.”

The gaffer also emphasised on his role in the team, by praising his work-rate and counter-pressing abilities, terming it at “an unbelievable level”. Klopp praised the dynamic nature of Jota’s style of play, describing him as “a striker who can play on the wing”, giving the team multiple attacking options.

“He can play in all of our attacking roles and he has an incredible attitude. Not a bad package. Not bad at all.”

Jota is the fourth player from the club to sign an extension after Mohamed Salah, Joe Gomez and James Milner. It is good to see the club protect the future of their key players and reward them for their performances.
