“Impact the game”- Harvey Elliott opens up on Liverpool teammate Fabio Carvalho

Liverpool sensation Harvey Elliott talks about Fabio Carvalho and himself not using age as an excuse

Speaking ahead of Liverpool vs AFC Bournemouth, Harvey Elliott talked to the club’s official website about his preparation for the fixture and his mate Fabio Carvalho.

Elliott and Carvalho played together in Fulham’s age group teams and developed good chemistry at Craven Cottage. The 19-year-old joined the Reds earlier this summer. He has featured alongside Elliott in all three of Liverpool’s league games.

In spite of their youth, both players remain passionate about making a lasting impact on games. With a combined age of only 38, they are the future of the club. Harvey also talked about being “fully focused” to impact the game.

“Obviously we’re younger players in the team but we’ve had loads of experience, so we can’t really use that as an excuse when it comes to these big games. Either we’re starting or coming on, we just need to make sure that we’re fully focused and to impact the game.”

After Liverpool’s tough loss against Manchester United, there were a lot of talks to sign a new midfielder due to the Reds’ ageing midfield. Even though the Reds need reinforcements in midfield, the capabilities of the current squad are overlooked.

Carvalho, since coming on in the game against United, impressed everyone with his dribbling in tight spaces. As one of the few bright spots in a game that didn’t have much to cheer about, Elliott stood out too.

There is a lot of speculation surrounding the midfield situation at the club. Liverpool would want to sign a new player in that department. Even without that, the club needs improvements and that is what Elliott talked about.

“There’s still a lot of improvements that we can do and that we can work on throughout the season and throughout the weeks when different games are coming.

The Reds have an excellent record against their next league opponents and would hope to continue their form against the Cherries. Winless from three games, Liverpool would also be desperate to change that.

Carvalho and Elliott in such a short span of time have gone on to make a good impression on the onlookers. Their form will be essential to Liverpool’s success come to the end of the campaign.
