Speaking in the press conference ahead of the Premier League fixture against Arsenal this weekend, Liverpool gaffer Jurgen Klopp
had a few words to say about Liverpool star Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian striker has been in good form this season, leading both the scoring and assist charts for the club. With five goals and three assists, he is Liverpool’s highest goal contributor in the Premier League so far.
Gaffer Jurgen Klopp hopes that the player continues to score more goals and is “happy” with Bobby’s record. The German also hailed Firmino’s team-first attitude and he is a very important player in Klopp’s view. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
“The goals he scored were outstanding against Brighton. An incredibly important player to me, I am happy with his record so far and hopefully he can put a few more in.”
Bobby rediscovered his form and also scored a brace in the game against Brighton. His good run of form has come at just the right time with a very tough opponent to face in Arsenal.
Interestingly, the Gunners are his favourite opposition in the league. In only 13 appearances against the North London side, Firmino has scored a staggering nine goals and racked up three assists as well. Moreover, not only he but Diogo Jota also enjoys playing against Mikel Arteta’s side. In eight appearances for the Portuguese, he has six goals vs Arsenal.
It was very important for Firmino to step up his game after a pretty average season last time around. And more so for the campaign prior to that. In 21/22, he scored 11 goals and got five assists from 35 appearances. He is on course to better his tally from the 2021-22 campaign.
Having said that, the game against Arsenal holds a lot of importance in the way it could shape the Reds’ season going forward. Hence, Liverpool need to go out at The Emirates with all guns blazing and revive their season.
