“Best team in the world”- Jurgen Klopp makes huge Manchester City claim after Rangers win

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp excited for Manchester City clash after Rangers rout

Speaking in the post-match interview after Liverpool’s Champions League encounter against Rangers as quoted by Daily Mail

, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is excited for the weekend’s clash against Manchester City and has labelled them as the ‘best team in the world’.

Liverpool completely annihilated Rangers last night, winning 7-1 on what was a memorable night of football for the Merseysiders. A Mohamed Salah hattrick, Roberto Firmino brace and goals apiece from Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott helped the Reds complete the drubbing on the Scottish giants.

It was a welcome return to form for the Reds who have struggled to show the kind of consistency that made them one of the best teams in the world in the last few seasons but Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that this is the turning point.

Liverpool sit second in the Champions League behind Serie A leaders Napoli, with the Italian giants seemingly unbeatable in the group. However, the Reds are in a fairly comfortable position too and a point from their remaining two games should suffice for them to progress to the next round.

In the Premier League though, the story looks grim for the Reds as they have a lot of catching up to do. Klopp’s men sit 14 points behind league leaders Arsenal and it is a lot of ground to make up, even for a team of Liverpool’s calibre.

The test does not get any easier for the Reds as they face probably the most in-form team in Europe right now, and the only team that remains unbeaten in the Premier League this season, Manchester City.

Klopp is excited about the clash against Pep Guardiola’s side and believes last night’s results will spur the team in the right direction.

“That is good but we all know who we are welcoming on Sunday and this will be a different game. But it’s better to go into the game feeling like we do tonight! We will see, I am always ready for a change in the right direction, but we will see”

“We don’t have to make a big thing of it but the best football team in the world right now is coming to Anfield on Sunday. We will see what we can do.”

Let’s hope that last night’s result was a turning point for the Reds this season. An added benefit is the fact that Mohamed Salah roared back to form last night and let’s hope he can carry that into Sunday’s clash.

Klopp still has a lot of questions to answer but last night’s result was a statement of sorts. Win on Sunday against Manchester City and everyone will start believing in Liverpool again.
