Jude Bellingham is one of the hottest names on the transfer market right now, urging Liverpool and Real Madrid to make their interest in the player very clear. Now, the Reds’ Northwest rivals, Manchester United have also rekindled their interest to sign the 19-year-old Englishman according to the Liverpool Echo.
Ever since his move to the Bundesliga giants from Birmingham City in 2020, Bellingham has made top clubs sit up and take notice of his performances. The teenager is an extremely mature player for his age and has already captained the Black and Yellow multiple times this season.
Bellingham has been a revelation of sorts in the Champions League this year and has won the Man of the Match twice in six appearances in the competition. In 19 appearances this season across all competitions, Jude has nine goals and two assists.
Speaking from a financial perspective, very few clubs in the world could actually afford the heavy price tag of £131m Dortmund are seeking. Manchester United and Real Madrid are both among the few who can afford that and Liverpool will need to come up with something extraordinary in order to trump them.
Man United were close to signing the Worcestershire-born player while he was at Birmingham, but the player chose to move abroad to Germany. The threat of Real was already looming over Liverpool’s head in their pursuit of signing Jude, and United’s entry only makes it event more difficult.
In any case, Jude would want to continue playing in the UEFA Champions League, and the Reds, by the present looks of it, have work to do to qualify for next season’s competition.
Moreover, with a Sky Sports report also claiming that Jude is considering staying put at Dortmund, it might come as a huge jolt to the multiple clubs wagging their tails at the idea of forcing the German side’s hand.
Besides, the immediate concern for Jurgen Klopp and his men would be to seal a position in one of the UCL spots on the Premier League table instead of worrying about something as distant as the transfer window.
However, there is no shame in hiding from the fact that the Reds need an overhaul in their midfield. This season’s form should make it clear to the top bosses at the club as well.
