“Nunez can learn so much from Salah”- Gary Neville tells Liverpool star how he can improve further

Manchester United legend Gary Neville offers advice to Liverpool star Darwin Nunez

In Liverpool FC’s 2-1 win over Tottenham on Sunday, the performances of Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah were particularly brilliant. The Uruguayan laid off the ball for Salah from inside the box for the Reds to take the lead in the 11th minute.

Nunez’s runs from the left side caused a lot of problems for Emerson Royal. The 23-year-old also attacked the space between the Brazilian and Eric Dier to cause constant mayhem in the Spurs’ backline.

Ever since his high-profile move to Liverpool over the summer from Benfica, Darwin has had the media’s eyes on him. Often, he has drawn comparisons to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland as well, as the pair moved to the league in the same window. However, the Norweigan is a level different to that of Nunez.

Slowly but surely, Nunez is finding his feet in Liverpool colours. In 16 appearances across all competitions this season, he has seven goals and two assists. In his learning curve, he has one of the best players in the world around him to help him find his feet.

Former Manchester United captain and pundit Gary Neville spoke about the same and added that the Uruguayan can learn a lot from Salah. Here is what Gary had to say via Liverpool Echo:

“Nunez does really well and he is the threat, but Salah is the class. Nunez can learn so much from Salah.

“He’s an unpolished diamond. He makes the runs, he’s a threat, he’s a nuisance, he challenges and he harasses.

“If I was Nunez I would just watch Salah constantly, in terms of what he does in the final third and in particular in the box.”

Darwin Delight

A poacher and a finisher like Salah are exactly the kind of people Nunez needs around him. Mo is one of the best in the world inside the box. He can observe the sly movements the Egyptian makes in the box and try to incorporate that into his game as well.

The two seem to have good chemistry on the pitch, and hopefully, for Liverpool fans, there is much more to come from the partnership of the duo.

Darwin has had a goal contribution in every game he has featured in since Liverpool’s win over West Ham bar the one game against Leeds United at home. After a tough few weeks initially, it is refreshing to see that the youngster is now getting somewhat used to the nitty-gritty of the English top tier.

His movement, particularly, has earned him a lot of praise from the footballing world. That shall hopefully show output in terms of goals and assists sooner than later to the delight of Liverpool fans and Darwin himself.

In a few weeks’ time, he will head out to Qatar to feature for Uruguay in the World Cup later this month. A good few performances on his back will increase his confidence going into the tournament, and hopefully, he does well there as well.
