Liverpool backed for Premier League glory if they sign these two English stars

Ray Parlour urges Liverpool to sign Jude Bellingham or Declan Rice to compete for the title

Former Arsenal star Ray Parlour has backed Liverpool to challenge for the Premier League title if they sign Jude Bellingham or Declan Rice.

Most of the Reds’ problems this season point to the core issue of poor performances from the midfielders. In particular, Fabinho has not looked at his best which has caused the Reds to look bleak this season in transition.

The lack of investment from the owners over the summer is starting to show its effects on the club now. The decision not to sign a midfielder has gone on to hurt Jurgen Klopp and his men to a significant extent.

If the Reds had signed a European standard midfielder or two earlier this summer, the club would not have been struggling to make a UEFA Champions League spot. Currently, the Reds are in the eighth position on the table with five wins, four losses and four draws.

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour, talking to Talksport (h/t Liverpool Echo) brought light to the fact that if Liverpool somehow manage to sign both Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham Liverpool could win the title.

“, That’s where Liverpool need to go and try and get Declan Rice.”

“Imagine getting Bellingham and Rice, that could be where they challenge for the title again.”

Both players have been on Liverpool’s radar for quite a while but their exorbitant prices mean that the Reds will find it extremely tough to go ahead and sign even any one of them, let alone anyone.

Rice runs out of contract in 2024 as compared to Jude, who will finish his contract only in 2025. The duo of Rice and Bellingham will both help reduce the average age of the club and for sure, will increase the standard of performance in Liverpool’s midfield.

Currently in a transitional phase wherein most of the midfielders are over the age of 30, including James Milner and Jordan Henderson, the signing of two young players will for sure secure the long term fututre for Liverpool.

Although a move for the pair seems unrealistic in January, the Reds could go to West Ham and Dortmund with hope and the little money they have next summer in their pursuit of the English midfielders.
