Liverpool making moves for MLS star Jhon Duran
Even after Liverpool successfully completed the signing of PSV’s star winger Cody Gakpo earlier this week, the Reds still continue to stand linked with a number of forwards including Rennes’ Martin Terrier, and now, Colombian international Jhon Duran.
The 19-year-old Chicago Fire star is a versatile forward capable of playing either through the middle or on the left wing as well. Starting off his career in his home country’s first-tier team Envigado wherein he scored nine goals and a further four assists in 46 appearances.
Ever since moving to Chicago Fire earlier this year, the teenager has caught the attention of the Reds after scoring eight goals and getting a further six assists in 28 appearances for Fire. Raffaele Amato via Liverpool Echo writes that the Reds are making ‘concrete moves’ for the player who also has three caps for his national team.
As per the same report, Benfica have an offer submitted for the player and the bid is more than that of the Reds. Joining only for €1.7m over the summer, Chicago look set to make a steady profit on the youngster
Do the Reds need more attackers?
Liverpool, post the signing of Gakpo seem pretty much stacked when it comes to the attacking department, and any more signings from this hereon in that view will only cause an overload and dismantle the balance of the squad.
What Liverpool precisely needs at the moment, is the service of a world-class midfielder who can put in the hard yards in the middle of the park. Three of our midfielders are over the age of 31, two run out of contract in the summer.
And one has been a shadow of himself this season, and amid so many problems, what we need is a central midfielder. Liverpool continue to be linked with the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Jude Bellingham but only time will tell whether those links actually bring any fruition.

With that being said, we should take nothing away from the talent Duran is. Hopefully, the opportunity for him to join Liverpool comes at a later stage in his career as he might not be what the Reds are in need of at the moment.
