Liverpool will not make a bid for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo

According to journalist Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool will not be making a bid for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo in the January transfer window.

Caicedo has been linked with Liverpool since the summer transfer window but with Brighton’s reluctance to sell their star asset added to the confusion surrounding Liverpool ownership, a move for the player did not materialise.

With the draw against Chelsea, Liverpool currently sits ninth in the Premier League and the chances of finishing in the top four look slim.

Hence, many thought that the club would look to sign a midfielder to bring the much-needed energy and quality to an ageing midfield.

However, such claims could be put to rest as Liverpool does not intend on spending big for Caicedo in the January transfer window.

On the other hand, it seems like Todd Boehly does not wish to stop with his carefree spending in the January transfer window and looks set to test Brighton’s resilience with a bid for the player.

According to Ben Jacobs (h/t Liverpool Echo), Chelsea are now the favourites to sign the 21-year-old Ecuadorian but the Seagulls are holding out for a fee of more than £75m.

Now, it remains to be seen whether the player indeed gets a big money move with a few days left in the January transfer window. It would have been a smart move for us but then again, the fee being quoted isn’t peanuts.

More Liverpool News:

It would be a boost for us if the rumoured move to Chelsea does not come through as the situation of the club in the summer could be entirely different and there might be an opportunity present to do a deal for Caicedo.

Till then, we just wait and watch how the situation is going forward and a lot of our potential incomings will depend on whether we secure UEFA Champions League qualification or not.
