Emmanuel Petit urges Liverpool to go all out for these two two midfielders next summer

Liverpool need to target Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo according to Emmanuel Petit

Two top names among the multiple midfielders linked with a move to Liverpool include Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo. Rice has proven himself in the Premier League for longer, while Caicedo is starting to establish himself as a reputable player in the English top tier.

Alongside Jude Bellingham, Rice and Caicedo are often the top players who often find themselves in a report linking them with a move to Merseyside. The performance of Liverpool’s midfielders have stood criticized this season. Some players will likely leave in the summer, which may result in changes to the team’s midfield.

Rice’s contract with West Ham ends in 2024 (Transfermarkt

) and for Caicedo, the deal with Brighton is until 2025 (Transfermarkt). Both players will certainly cost the Reds a bomb but in any case, a revamp at Liverpool is much needed.

World Cup-winning midfielder Emmanuel Petit has urged Liverpool to target Rice and Caicedo and here is what he told Betway via Liverpool Echo:

“Caicedo and Rice for me are top players.”

“They’re young and have improved a lot in the last season and they can still improve and reach the next step but for me, this is the kind of player Liverpool should get. They can play with the ball and they can play without the ball as well.”

Rice and Caicedo to the Reds?

As earlier mentioned, Both Caicedo and Rice have proven themselves in the Premier League. Their ability to play in a number of positions in the midfield would provide Liverpool with the flexibility they need to cover any potential gaps in their lineup.

Additionally, both players have the potential to develop into top-class midfielders, which would be a major boost for the Reds. Even though the odds of both these players joining the Reds in the summer are slim, the Reds should certainly try if they have the funds for it.

The poor form of Liverpool’s midfield has been a topic of concern this season, with a number of regular starters not able to replicate their performances from the last few seasons. The extremely tough situation in the middle of the park for Liverpool could mean that a reshuffle could soon become reality.

Caicedo’s versatility and technical ability make him a valuable asset for any team, and he could bring a new dimension to Liverpool’s midfield. Adding to that, Rice’s passing range, physicality, and aerial ability make him a valuable addition to any team.
