Alisson admits to being ‘completely frustrated’ with Liverpool problem

Alisson Becker denies that Liverpool players are not working together after their poor 3-0 loss to Wolves. The Reds’ goalie has been one of the best players for the club this season. It is never a wonderful sight to see the goalkeeper having to work a lot, but Ali has been truly remarkable in goal.

The losses are as frustrating for the players as they stand for the fans as per the shot-stopper. Liverpool have conceded 28 goals in the league this season and have dropped more points already than the entirety of what they did last season. That surely has to speak levels of the drop in the standard of play at the Reds.

Moreover, Ali also talked about how the frustrations are growing with time as even trying so much, the Reds are unable to fetch for themselves a positive result. There is an urgent need for reinforcements and also the need for consistency which seems lost at the club.

Speaking to the club’s official website via Liverpool Echo, here is what Alisson said on the level of confidence in the team resulting in frustrations for the shot-stopper:

“We are not in the situation where we are confident, that confident to come back, but we tried. We did a good second half and then we concede again: you don’t score and you concede again, so it’s completely frustrating from my side.”

Defence revamp also needed?

One more loss in 2023 and that means that Liverpool are yet to register a win in the new year. Understandable why the Reds are not feeling confident, but the Reds need to gather themselves and get back to winning ways sooner than later to strengthen their case of a top-four finish.

One of the key factors that has affected their form is the absence of Virgil van Dijk. The injury has kept the Dutch international out of action and the backline has dearly felt his absence. Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have been far from their best recently and it’s hurting Liverpool.

Both players have been prone to making mistakes as we saw in the game against Wolves and have struggled to deal with the pressure of playing without van Dijk. The pressure of being the last line of defence can be tough, but it’s up to Matip and Gomez to rise to the challenge and help their team get back to winning ways.

If the defence can help Alisson, the Brazilian can in turn help them better as well. It is not either party’s fault but playing in cohesion will help the Reds get better results in the coming days.
