David Moyes makes Declan Rice transfer prediction amid Liverpool links

West Ham United’s captain Declan Rice is subject to a Liverpool move amid his links with the Reds among other clubs as well. Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are also in the race for his signature and a huge bidding war shall ensue in case Rice wants a move.

His present deal at The Hammers lasts until 2024 (Transfermarkt) but given how David Moyes’ team are not in the best position when it comes to the points table, a player of Rice’s calibre could fancy a move to a top Premier League club sooner than later.

Very recently, the 24-year-old put in a solid shift against Newcastle United post which manager Moyes was full of praise for the defensive midfielder. Even though they did not win the game, a draw further strengthened West Ham’s chances of staying in the Premier League.

Here is what Moyes told the press on Rice’s future via Liverpool Echo:

“Undoubtedly Declan is going to be a top player. Undoubtedly he’ll be a British transfer record if he ever leaves West Ham.”

Can Liverpool break the Transfer Record fee?

Very recently, the transfer of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica to Chelsea for a fee of £105m saw the Argentinian break the British Transfer Record Fee. However, Moyes envisions Rice breaking that price tag and establishing himself as the most expensive British transfer.

Liverpool’s links with the player will probably halt over there looking at the price tag. Under FSG, the chance of the Reds paying up such a huge fee is a major doubt. Moreover, with Jude Bellingham on our radar as well, we could well and truly prioritise the 19-year-old over Rice.

In any case, the certainty is that the Reds will need to break the British transfer record in case they wish to have either Rice or Bellingham at the club. Hopefully, we have the money to finance a deal for either player as the need for a midfielder at Liverpool cannot get any more evident from this point onwards.

Be that as it may, the Reds need a midfield revamp and at this point, it doesn’t matter whether it is Jude joining the Reds or Rice. Times are so tough that even 42-year-old Steven Gerrard could put in a better shift than the current lot.
