Jurgen Klopp admits ‘concern’ at Liverpool question ‘asked too often’

If people believe that times at Liverpool are concerning, that is what Jurgen Klopp would hear more often than not. But at this point, it is not about people believing that times are concerning. It is very evident that proceedings at the club are not going in the right direction at the moment.

Two things are clear. One, the manager needs more backing from the owners. Two, there is indeed a big big concern at the club. It doesn’t really matter how many times this question stands asked if there isn’t any imminent solution to the same.

For the media who asks these questions, Jurgen Klopp is the face of the club and the gaffer will certainly need to give answers at a point rather than just saying that a question is asked multiple times. Even though one can be conscious of the monotonous nature of press conferences, only Klopp is answerable to these questions.

The manager has handled the questions pretty well and here is what he said about the same via Liverpool Echo:

“The question, unfortunately, has been asked too often. How can I not be concerned?

“I cannot sit here and say it’s all OK and we did well. It’s not. I was asked outside if it’s because of last season, 63 games.

“Yes, of course, it’s clear that [last season] has influenced the first part of the season, but how long do we want to suffer from that? It’s February now. We had a full week to prepare, we have another eight or nine days to prepare the next one.”

Concerning times at the club?

Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a change in Liverpool’s fortunes in 2023 for the questions in the press conference to change. Until and unless the Reds mend their ways and start getting positive results, the threat of losing out on a top-four spot will still loom over their head.

Having said that, Klopp is smart enough to know that press conferences do not matter when it comes to the actual thick of things. Liverpool’s next assignment is the Merseyside Derby at Home and that game will come with its own pressure.

The Toffees are coming off a win against league leaders Arsenal under new manager Sean Dyche and it will be a huge task to overcome the Brexit-style defence of the former Burnley manager.

Klopp is an experienced manager and has a proven track record of success. He should trust his instincts and strategies, and not let the recent poor form get to him. Instead, he should channel all his energy towards securing a positive result in the upcoming derby against Everton.
