According to French outlet L’Equipe (h/t Metro), top European clubs, including Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani.
Kolo Muani, who was one of France’s heroes in the World Cup final despite ending up on the losing side, has been a Frankfurt player since last summer.
In his first Bundesliga season, the former Nantes striker has scored nine goals and assisted 12 in 18 appearances
. He is one of the main reasons why the German side are fifth in the table, only five points behind leaders Bayern Munich. The report though tells us that Frankfurt will demand a very high fee for the 24-year-old. A figure around 100m Euros is now quoted to be the price that can get you Kolo Muani in the coming summer transfer window.
We can understand why Manchester United are interested in the Frenchman. They are yet to replace Cristiano Ronaldo up front and Wout Weghorst is a stop-gap solution on a loan deal. Kolo Muani could suit Erik ten Hag’s system as well.
Not sure the same can be said about Liverpool though. The Reds further bolstered their attacking department with the signature of Cody Gakpo in the January window.
They have Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz to come back from their long-term injuries. Add that to the fact Darwin Nunez is there and Roberto Firmino may extend his stay here, and it makes no sense to think about signing Kolo Muani.
We all know where Liverpool need to invest heavily in the summer – midfield. So, instead of saving up funds to buy the Frenchman, the club should be sensible and buy at least two top-quality midfielders in the summer for the big prize.
