Liverpool hold talks with Bayer Leverkusen star’s entourage with Newcastle United also keen

Liverpool hold talks with the representatives of Bayer Leverkusen star Jonathan Tah

Reports have emerged that Liverpool have entered into discussions with representatives of Jonathan Tah, the 27-year-old German centre-back who currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen. The talks are reportedly in anticipation of a potential transfer in the summer transfer window.

According to 90min (h/t Liverpool Echo), the Reds alongside Newcastle United have enquired about the player and he could well and truly be on his way out of Germany at the end of the current campaign.

Tah has certainly established himself as one of the most promising defenders in Europe, and it’s easy to see why Liverpool might stand interested in him. The German is obviously tall, strong, and quick, making him an ideal fit for the Premier League. He stands known for his aerial ability and also for his commanding presence on the pitch, which could make him an excellent addition to Liverpool’s defence.

Moreover, this transfer speculation comes at a time when Liverpool are seeking to strengthen their backline, with manager Jurgen Klopp looking to add more depth to his squad. The club has also been linked with Josko Gvardiol as well in recent months, and it seems that Tah is the latest name to emerge as a potential target.

Could Tah turn to the Reds?

With growing speculation over Joel Matip’s future at Liverpool, it is understandable that the Reds will now stand linked with as many top centre-backs as possible. If the transfer does go ahead, it could be a major coup for Liverpool.

Compared to Matip, Tah is still relatively young and his best years lie ahead. He has a wealth of experience playing in the Bundesliga, and the UCL, and has represented Germany at the international level as well. All of these factors certainly make him an attractive proposition for any club looking to improve their defence.

Whether this will lead to a transfer remains to be seen, but it’s clear that the 27-year-old centre-back is a player who could make a real impact at Anfield.
