“He will be fine”- Jurgen Klopp gives his verdict on Liverpool ace’s current form

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp talks about Trent Alexander-Arnold and his form

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been one of the most talked-about players in the Liverpool squad in recent weeks, with many fans and pundits questioning his form and his confidence. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has now spoken out about these concerns, offering reassurance to fans that the 24-year-old defender has the ability to bounce back.

After the draw against Crystal Palace away from home in the league, Trent’s defensive abilities again came to the forefront of all the talk and the player was more than just criticised for his mistakes. The player should have done much better than what he did in certain situations but it is clear that the player is trying to improve that aspect of his game.

After the game against Palace, the manager took the opportunity to talk about Alexander-Arnold and gave an insight of what he feels might have been contributing to the player’s tough time on the field.

Here is what Klopp told the club’s official website on the scouser’s form and whether he is ‘suffering from a lack of confidence’:

“He was, for sure, in the few games we won he was one of the much, much, much, much better players. It is Trent Alexander-Arnold and if he is not performing, everybody is talking about it. When he is performing, nobody speaks about it apart from when he is involved in goals. He set up super goals in the last few games – Newcastle and I think Everton. He is OK, it is just the amount of games. We took him off and he has a day longer to rest and then he will be fine again.

While acknowledging that Alexander-Arnold has not been at his best in recent games, Klopp also emphasised that the defender has been a key player in some of the team’s recent victories against Everton and Newcastle wherein he played his trademark pinpoint crosses, resulting in goals. However, the game against the Eagles was a different affair per se.

Is Trent low on confidence?

Klopp also highlighted the intense scrutiny that Alexander-Arnold faces due to his high profile and importance to the team. The player is one of the best right-backs in the world, and his attacking style of play is second to none. However, due to the Reds’ nature of attacking full-backs, the player often finds himself out of position and does not do great when it comes down to tracking back and that is why he is criticised so much.

Despite the concerns over Alexander-Arnold’s form, Klopp expressed confidence in the player’s ability to bounce back. Time and again, the player has shown tremendous mental strength to grow from such situations and help the Reds in the best way possible.

Despite these concerns, it is clear that Alexander-Arnold remains a key part of Klopp’s plans for the team. The Liverpool manager has shown on many occasions that he is willing to stick with his players through tough times, and he will undoubtedly continue to support Alexander-Arnold as he works to regain his best form.

While Alexander-Arnold has struggled in recent games, there is no doubt that he has the talent and the drive to overcome his current difficulties.
