Liverpool ‘increasingly confident’ of signing 24-year-old Premier League star

Liverpool ‘increasingly confident’ of signing Chelsea star Mason Mount

Liverpool is a club that has built its success in recent years on a solid foundation of teamwork and a strong midfield. The recent news that the Reds are reportedly growing in confidence in their ability to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea is a promising development in regard to the impending midfield overhaul at the club.

According to Talksport (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are “increasingly confident” they will be able to prise Mount away from Chelsea this summer. The player’s contract with the Blues ends in 2024 (Transfermarkt) and talks over a new contract have stalled.

Mount is a versatile midfielder who has certainly become a key player for Chelsea in recent years. He has the ability to play in a variety of positions, from attacking midfield to a deeper role, and has shown himself to be a player of great technical ability and intelligence.

His ability to read the game and make intelligent passes could make him a perfect fit for Liverpool’s style of play, and his versatility would obviously give the team much-needed depth in midfield.

Pressure Mounting on Mason?

Liverpool’s need for a midfield overhaul is not surprising given the almost-ending contracts of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, as well as the age of James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Thiago. These issues have certainly left Liverpool with a lack of depth and experience in midfield, which has been evident in some of the team’s recent performances.

In addition to the need for depth, Liverpool’s midfield has lacked creativity and the goal-scoring ability in recent seasons. Mount would bring both of these qualities to the team, as he has shown himself to be a player capable of scoring goals and creating chances for his teammates.

This would be a significant improvement for Liverpool, who have obviously relied on their old attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino to provide the bulk of their goals. Now that Mane has moved on, Liverpool look towards the likes of Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo for their goal output.

More Liverpool News:

While there are no guarantees in the world of football, the growing confidence that Liverpool can sign Mount is a positive sign for the club and the fans alike as well and hopefully, we get on board some top-quality midfielders in the summer. The 24-year-old can also reach new heights under someone like manager Jurgen Klopp on Merseyside.
