Jordan Henderson believes Liverpool star Diogo Jota is rediscovering his best form

According to the club’s official site, Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson has lavished praise on Diogo Jota following his goalscoring exploits against Nottingham Forest at Anfield earlier today.

The Portuguese international had failed to score for Liverpool for a whole year in the leadup to the visit to Elland Road earlier this week. He ended his hoodoo by scoring twice at Elland Road and appeared to improve in confidence as the game wore on.

Jota continued his good form earlier today by putting two past Nottingham Forest on course to a 3-2 win. Back-to-back victories put the Reds with an outside shot of securing top-four qualification.

Speaking after the game Henderson proclaimed that the Liverpool striker is someone capable of finishing opponents off when in form. Jota gets into several promising positions but thankfully his confidence is back now and he is starting to hit the back of the net.

“He gets himself in some great positions and normally when he gets in there and gets the ball he can finish them off.”

Jota also contrived to miss a golden opportunity in the first half before forcing Keylor Navas into a fine save in the second half. A handful to keep quiet when in form, he can consider himself unfortunate not to complete a hattrick.

Henderson also attributed Jota’s ability to clinically finish chances to his refound confidence. With Darwin Nunez still not completely fit, it is good to see the 26-year-old come into his own as a reliable goalscorer.

“He’s just starting to find his rhythm after being out with injury for a long time. It’s nice to see him back in the goals and full of confidence. Hopefully he can continue that from now until the end of the season.”

Henderson hopes Jota can now keep his form up until the end of the season. He won’t be the only one at Liverpool to wish that.
